This safari takes you in to the heart of the jungle, amidst lush greenery replete with wild animals and birds. The only place in the world where you can admire Asiatic lions roaming and roaring free in their natural habitat, this safari will become the high point of your trip. Lasting between two and four hours in total, the Gir Safari takes you through the rugged terrain of this enchanting deciduous forest, offering you a rare glimpse of Gujarat’s rich and unique wildlife. The latest census reveals that the Gir National Park is home to over 500 lions, 300 leopards, 40 distinct species of reptiles, amphibians, along with hyenas, Indian foxes and Chowsingha- the world’s only four-horned antelope etc. It would be a memorable trip for wildlife enthusiasts and tourists alike.

TRAVEL PLAN:

The Gir National Park is open from mid October to mid June whereas, the Devaliya Safari Park (Gir Interpretation Zone) is open throughout the year, but is closed on all Wednesdays. We’d advice you to plan your trip accordingly and in advance. The Jungle Safari requires prior permission, which can be acquired online. Guide service, Vehicle service and Camera fee information are available locally at reception centre of Sasan Gir.

It was a famed Portuguese colony from 1539 to 1961, the remains of which can be seen in its churches, temples and other historic buildings. Located just 45 km away from Sasan, the Somnath temple boasts of some really intricate and incredible carvings. Historically and architecturally acclaimed, the temple was built sometime between 320 and 500AD and has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. The current structure was built in 1950.
